San Miguel is one of our favorite cities, and we are so excited that you will be visiting! We hope you make a vacation out of your trip! The city itself is a UNESCO world heritage site rich in history, culture, and beauty. Landmarks worth visiting include the Jardin, La Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel, La Casa de Allende, and the Mercado. Whether strolling the streets, popping in to a shop, or enjoying a bite to eat at one of the city's amazing restaurants, there is no shortage of great experiences.
SMA is a small and walkable city, so you will be able to see a majority of the town on foot. We have shared a few of our favorite places below, but there is no such thing as a bad time in San Miguel!
Please make note that San Miguel is a high-altitude city (over 6,000 feet above sea level - higher than Denver).
Be sure to hydrate and prepare accordingly if you are easily impacted by high altitudes.
Most locations are within a 5-10 minute walk, excluding the wedding venue. The city of San Miguel is very walkable, but has very narrow streets that limit group transportation. There are also taxis and Ubers readily available in the city center.
In October, San Miguel de Allende typically has pleasant weather. Daytime temperatures are warm, averaging around 75-80°F, while evenings can be cooler, dropping to around 50-55°F. It's a good idea to bring layers and comfortable walking shoes for navigating the city's cobblestone streets.
Take a stroll in the heart of downtown San Miguel and enjoy a delicious breakfast at Cumpanio located on Correo #29, Centro. Their cinnamon roll and chilaquiles are our favorites!
